Christmas in the Democratic Republic of Congo is celebrated much the same as it is in the United States. There are some differences that we will show below. One major difference is that Christmas is mostly a religious celebration. Here is how the country celebrates.

Food – The country is very poor, so families tend to save up so that they can have a better meal on Christmas. Typically, it will consist of chicken or pork.

Christmas Eve – Church is a major even on Christmas Eve. The churches have a lot of dance celebrations to ring in the holiday.

Traditions – Being that Christmas is mostly a religious holiday, there isn’t a ton of gift giving.
