Christmas Traditions in Bangladesh

Christmas in Bangladesh is celebrated much the same as it is in the United States. There are some differences that we will show below. One major difference is that Bangladesh is a primarily Muslim country, so there isn’t as much hype over the holiday. Here is how the country celebrates.

Decorations – Homes are adopting Christmas Trees more commonly now, and stores are using fake snow and artificial trees with lots of decorations.

Food – Christmas dinner is typically served at the church after services. Chicken and vegetable curry with rice is a common dish.

Christmas Eve – Catholics go to Midnight Mass, much like the rest of the Catholic world.

Media – Christmas Caroling is becoming more and more popular, and the preferred method is through kirtans, which are done by a leader with several others following after them, gaining pace of singing as the song goes on.
